general
What clinical services do you offer?
Right now: psychological evaluations, offered in-house at my two treatment centers, HighTide Mental Health and Exist Centers. I also serve as the chief clinical leader across my programs and run weekly group psychotherapy. I'm not currently providing individual care.
What is your approach to clinical care and treatment?
Comprehensive, multidisciplinary, and humanistic. I use the most current research, effective interventions, and an expertise in clinical analysis to figure out what's actually needed to solve the problem of the person in front of me — and to do it in a way that keeps them feeling like a person, not a diagnosis.
Do you work with kids or teens?
No, I work with adults only, 18 and older.
Can you prescribe medication?
No. But I work with a variety of board-certified psychiatrists and psychiatric nurse practitioners who provide medication care to my patients.
Do you offer one-on-one sessions?
Not at this time. My pro bono books may open again in the future.
Do you offer psychological evaluations?
Yes, for BPD, autism, ADHD, and other mental health conditions. Currently, evaluations are offered in-house only, at the two treatment centers I founded: in Laguna Beach, and virtually across California.
everything borderline
What is Everything Borderline?
My masterclass - plus a set of deeper resources - for anyone affected by borderline personality disorder who believes improvement is possible and wants to know how it's done.
Who is it for?
Three groups at once: people living with BPD, the people who love them, and the professionals who treat them.
Who it's not for: anyone experiencing BPD or BPD-like symptoms who feels at risk of harming themselves or someone else — or anyone whose loved one or client appears to be in a crisis state, needs emergency support, or may be headed there soon. This is education, not crisis care. If that's where things are, call or text 988 or reach out to a treatment program first.
How much time does it take?
The masterclass releases one lesson a day for thirty days, but it's fully asynchronous, you can go at your own pace and access it for as long as the program exists. The Extensions usually take about a week and a half, and each day's material can stretch across one to three days if you like taking your time.
Do I need a BPD diagnosis to join?
No. If you're self-suspecting, you count. If your loved one doesn't have a diagnosis but shows similar symptoms and you just want to learn more, that's okay too. There's no stigma here. Nothing in the program gives direct individual guidance, so there's no risk in simply learning about BPD. Just keep in mind that a person showing similar traits might not have it.
I'm a loved one of someone with BPD. Will this help me?
Yes, you're one of the three audiences I built this for. I also developed it alongside my partner of over twenty years, who saw me through before, during, and after my diagnosis and into recovery. His perspective is built into the program.
I'm a provider who treats BPD. Can I benefit from this?
Yes. I've earned multiple certifications in personality disorder treatment, I've worked with many clients with BPD, and I'm giving you everything I've got.
How much does it cost?
The masterclass is $297, or three payments of $109. Each Extension - the Lived Curriculum, the Family Seminar, and the Clinical Seminar - is $97. The BPD Coping Field Guide is $29/month. Everything is self-paced, and all sales are final: there are no refunds once purchased.
Will I interact with Dr. Courtney in the masterclass?
I teach every lesson myself, on video, so you'll spend the month learning directly from me. The masterclass itself is self-paced rather than live. If you're part of the monthly membership, though, there will be opportunities for direct, live connection.
treatment options
What's the difference between your two programs?
Level of care, specialty, and reach. HighTide Mental Health is a higher level of care including partial hospitalization with housing, plus IOP. It is specializing in primary mental health, in person in Laguna Beach. Exist Centers is an intensive outpatient program specializing in mental health and co-occurring substance use, delivered virtually across California.
How do I know which level of care I need?
My admissions team conducts an assessment, and a licensed clinician reviews it against the latest dimensional criteria for medical necessity and placement. Then we call you back and tell you what we think. When it's helpful, we also connect with your insurance to make sure they'll cover care at that level of need.
Do your treatment programs take insurance?
Yes. One of my programs is in-network, we work with a variety of insurances, and we handle all billing in-house, so you don't have to deal with the headache of it.
media
How do I reach you for press, speaking, or brand partnerships?
All of it goes to the same place: [email protected]. Include what you're reaching out about - interview, keynote or training, or a brand pitch - and I respond within 48 hours. If it's urgent, put URGENT in the subject line.
